# The Takadao Protocol

The LifeDAO’s day to day operations are run on the Takadao protocol. Takadao is a technology protocol that enables communities to pool their money together to insure one another as Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO), eliminating the need for a traditional insurance company.

Takadao-powered DAOs (tDAOS, such as The LifeDAO) are standalone member-owned and governed organizations. Takadao has no controlling or ownership interests in any of the tDAOs.
