# Explanation of TIN

A **Tax Identification Number (TIN)** is a unique number used by governments to identify individuals and entities for tax purposes. It helps authorities track tax obligations, verify identity, and ensure compliance with local tax laws.

Different countries use different names for this number, but its purpose is generally the same. It links you to your tax records.
