# Gold Vault

Explore the Gold Vault, its tokenized-gold model, and key risks.

The Gold Vault gives you a simple way to own gold through your digital wallet.

It converts your USDC deposit into PAX Gold (PAXG), a token backed by allocated physical gold held in Brink's vaults in London. You get gold exposure without finding a dealer, arranging storage, or managing the conversion yourself.

### Key details

* 1 PAXG equals 1 troy ounce of gold.
* Brink's vault holds the gold equivalent in London.
* Premium members pay a 1% deposit fee.
* Premium members pay a 0.5% withdrawal fee.
* HENRY members pay no vault fees.

### How it works

* Phase 1 accepts USDC deposits. Phase 2 plans to add BTC, ETH, and other assets.
* The vault converts your deposit into PAXG.
* Each PAXG token represents one fine troy ounce of allocated gold held in London vaults.
* You can request a withdrawal at any time. The vault converts PAXG into an available output currency.

{% hint style="info" %}
PAXG follows the price of gold. Its value can rise or fall, and it relies on its issuer and custody arrangements.
{% endhint %}

### Key risks

* If gold prices fall, your PAXG balance loses value.
* PAXG depends on Paxos and Brink's to hold and manage the physical gold.
* Smart contracts and cross-chain transfers can have vulnerabilities.
* Rules for tokenized gold and digital assets can change.
* Low liquidity or volatile markets can change the price you receive during conversion.
