# The LifeDAO (TLD) Community-Owned Nobank

#### What is a Community-Owned Nobank?

A Nobank is not a bank. It doesn't hold your money, charge you interest, or make decisions on your behalf. A Nobank gives you the tools to be your own bank — to save, spend, invest, and protect your wealth on your own terms, with full self-custody of your funds.

The LifeDAO is a community-owned, blockchain-based Nobank built on a simple idea: people are stronger together. Members from across the world pool their financial resources to protect and grow their wealth collectively — while each member keeps full control of their own funds.

The LifeDAO is organized as a non-profit Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). It is not controlled by any company, government, or individual. It is governed by its members, through proposals and voting, using smart contracts on the Arbitrum blockchain.

#### Why It Exists

Two forces are reshaping the world:

Communities are breaking down. Social isolation is rising. The "third places" — the spaces where people naturally gathered, supported each other, and built trust — are disappearing.

At the same time, trust in financial institutions is collapsing. People are getting richer in nominal terms but poorer in real terms. Banks, insurance companies, and governments are increasingly distrusted — even by each other.

The LifeDAO is the response to both. It rebuilds community around a shared financial purpose, and replaces institutional financial infrastructure with tools that are transparent, ethical, and owned by the people who use them.

#### What TLD Believes

* Communities that share financial risk are stronger than individuals acting alone
* Shariah-compliant finance, built on profit sharing and risk sharing, not interest, produces better outcomes for everyone
* Blockchain technology makes it possible to build financial systems that are transparent, decentralized, and accessible to anyone, anywhere
* No one should be excluded from financial freedom because of where they live, what they believe, or how much they already have
